5 Things To Do With the Kids This Week (May 16 - May 23)

Bucket list fun

By Lauren Illingworth, Macaroni Kid publisher Danville/San Ramon May 5, 2024

Every Thursday, Macaroni KID Danville/San Ramon shares our picks for five things to do with your kids over the coming week. My boys and I are starting to do a bucket list of national day fun this summer.  We are going to start a little early right!?

Here are Macaroni KID Lauren Illingworth's picks for the five things to do with the kids this week. Click on the links for all the details!

1. National  Cherry Cobbler Day (May 17)

Cherries also offer a bounty of nutrients. For example, the antioxidants in this red fruit protect cells from damage. Because cherries pack an anti-inflammatory punch, they may help reduce the risk of heart disease, too.

2.  Pick Strawberries Day (May 20)

The mission of Harvest Time in Brentwood is to promote the quality of and bring awareness to the local U-Pick farms, roadside stands and agricultural retail businesses in the Brentwood, CA area. These are the closest places for a day trip.

3. International Tea Day (May 21)

More than two billion cups of tea are drunk every day! International Tea Day is a celebration of a beverage that is enjoyed worldwide and happens to be the most popular drink of all time

Visit Danville's own Tal's for a wonderful afternoon tea menu.

4. Vanilla Pudding Day (May 22)

· Learn how to make a smooth, velvety, creamy vanilla pudding with milk, egg yolks and cornstarch. This old fashioned recipe is fast, easy and better than instant pudding mix.

5. World Turtle Day (May 23)

The day was created as a yearly observance to help people celebrate and protect turtles and tortoises and their disappearing habitats, as well as to encourage human action to help them survive and thrive.  Visit the Oakland Children's Zoo to see their Aldabra tortoises or the Monterey Bay Aquarium to see the green sea turtle in the open sea exhibit.
